His repertoire is a mixture of rock ‘n’ roll and country, however, in recent years Garry has found country to be where his real passion lies. As they say—you can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy.
He entered his first talent competition in 2001 and won both singer/songwriter and recorded songwriter sections. The following year he took part in the Merimbula Country Music Talent Quest and came out outright winner.
During 2003 Garry made the pilgrimage to Tamworth, buoyed by his local success, and entered the amateur section of the Tamworth Songwriters’ Assoc. Tiara Awards, and was rewarded with a berth amongst the finalists. That same year he was a finalist
in the Steel City Champion of Champions
in Newcastle and came third in the
National Champion of Champions
showcase in Canberra.
